Meet Your County Assessor Judy Honse was elected to office in 1988. Mrs. Honse was elected as President of the Missouri State Assessor's Association in 2000 and served on the Legislative Committee as Co-Chairwoman for several years. She served as President of the West Central Assessor's Association and as board member of The Missouri Mappers Association and is currently serving as secretary. She has also served as a board member to the Missouri Association of Counties. She is now serving as a Trustee on the Board of the Missouri Public Enity Risk Management Fund.
Office Information The Assessor is responsible for developing and maintaining a current list of all taxable "Real and Tangible" Personal Property in Maries County. The assessing of the property is done annually. Additionally the Assessor performs "Tax Mapping" by updating Real Estate Ownership based upon Warranty Deeds and other legal conveyances received from the Recorder of Deeds. The Maries County Assessor's Office also issues Rural 911 Address to property owners as a service to the taxpayers. Personal property list are due in the Assessor's Office by March 1st of each year. Personal property is assessed at 33 1/3%, except for farm machinery & livestock which is assessed at 12%. Real Estate property is as follows: Residential 19% of Market Value, Commercial 32% of Market Value, Agriculture Land at 12% of Productivity Value & Buildings at 12% of Market Value.
